Upon the death of the Pope, his ring (called the Fisherman’s Ring) is removed and destroyed

When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events, the election of a new pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the very foundation of the Catholic Church. The actions of Cardinal Lawrence and the other cardinals during the film’s conclave are true and accurate to the Catholic faith and centuries of tradition. The Vatican officially declares the throne of the Holy See (the governing body of the Catholic Church) vacant. The Pope’s residence is closed with a crimson ribbon and sealed with a wax papal seal. The College of Cardinals are housed in apartments (Domus Sanctae Marthae, Saint Martha’s House) to eat and sleep between votes.

And therefore there is no need for faith

Finally, the windows and doors of the Sistine Chapel, where the actual election is held and the ballots are cast, are blacked out, closed, and locked to preserve the secrecy of the conclave. Ayendin is claimed to be the first African Pope. The Roman Catholic Church has had three African Popes: Victor The First (189-199 AD), Miltiades (also known as Melchiades, 311-314 AD), and Gelasius The First (492-496 AD). Lawrence: Our faith is a living thing precisely because it walks hand in hand with doubt. If there were only certainty and no doubt, there would be no mystery.

And nowa film for adults

Let us pray that God would give us a Pope who doubts. And let him give us a Pope who sins and asks for forgiveness and who continues. Performed on The 7PM Project: Episode dated December 10, 2024 (2024). Allegri: Miserere Performed by: Capella Musicale Pontificia Sistina, Massimo Palombella By permission of Deutsche Grammophon GMBH under license from Universal Music Operations Ltd. Based on Robert Harris’ 2016 novel CONCLAVE takes viewers to the Vatican College of Cardinals’ process of electing a new pope…full of political infighting, twists, turns, and surprises galore.

That’s partly due to the fine, fine cast of actors cast in this film

And…if the average age of the people in the movie theater I attended the screening is any indication…"Adults" Directed by Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front), CONCLAVE moves at a brisk pace, unraveling the mystery – not “whodunnit”; but rather “who gets it” – and it gets surprisingly tense. Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort in the HARRY POTTER films) anchors the proceedings as the "Dean" of the Cardinals, tasked with leading a disparate group of cardinals to a consensus on the next pope. He acts as much as a detective assistant as he battles his own conscience over faith… and ambition… all the while uncovering the schemes and plots of some of his “lowly servants.” He is ably assisted by John Lithgow, Isabella Rosellini, and many others (mostly unknown) who are fighting for the “stake”; in the race to be the next Pope.

Be the judgeand join the other "adults" in the movie theater

Special mention must go to the GREAT Stanley Tucci for his supporting role as one of the contenders who appears to have a platform of “I don’t want this” but who really, really does. Don’t be surprised if both Fiennes and Tucci (and director Berger) are mentioned in the Oscar nominations (they are that good). As stated above, this film has twists and turns galore, and those twists are fun to roll with, but if I’m honest, I felt like this film went “one twist too far.” and it should have/could have ended 10 minutes before it did (without the final twist). Some would say this final twist is the point of the movie, but…I could have done without this thing.
