A land grab threatens to destroy the crumbling dynasty

Narrative

When the vast Lawson cattle station is left without an heir, rival factions in Australia see a chance to seize control. The series is filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in places so remote they are barely inhabited, let alone shown on screen.

This show is full of incredible talent and the backdrops are beautiful

Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the traditional owners – and Tipperary Station, a living cattle station so large it has its own airport and school. The story is believable and easy to follow, but the characters are hard to like.

It was very hard to root for anyone

It wasn’t until episode five that any of them showed any signs of redemption. The show’s central premise is tragedy after tragedy.

It still is

Episode 5 brings a reunion of sorts, and then, oh, more tragedy. There are only 6 episodes and maybe episode 6 is the one that ties it all together but honestly after the first 5 episodes I was so depressed I couldn’t stand it.

There is no balance between hope and despair

It was not at all a pleasant watch for me. I only did it because I am a fan of some of the actors and actresses.
